'Consulting top choice for business students' | TwoCircles.net

By IANS,

New Delhi : Consulting was on top of the mind of most business administration students in India, a survey released Thursday said.

With a sample size of 1,000 and done across top business schools, the survey said 79.2 percent students would like to take up consulting as a career.

The survey, jointly done by Tata Consultancy Services and Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF), said Indian business students were more likely to choose consulting if an internship was offered.

Half of them (52 percent) felt consulting companies provided global engagement opportunities and for 64 percent, location of the company was not important.

As per the results, 28 percent of students viewed consulting as a potential long-term career and 30 percent viewed it as a stepping stone to leadership positions in industry outside consulting.

A majority of 83 percent respondents were of the opinion that job independence was a very important factor for choosing consulting.
