Sorry, you can't sell your soul on eBay

1 day

At this very moment, I would exchange my soul for the yet-to-be-announced?next-generation iPhone, a pair of Google?glasses ... and world peace. But I wouldn't sell it.

That refusal to choose?an actual monetary value for my spirit ?is very fortunate because, as it happens, I can't put my soul on eBay. The auction site has a policy forbidding just that.

Sounds silly, right??

I didn't believe that such a policy could possibly be in effect when I read?a story Business Insider's Owen Thomas?wrote about it, so I got in touch with an eBay spokesperson?? who confirmed that the?stipulation?does indeed exist:?

Our policy does not allow listings that do not offer anything for sale or those that have intangible items.?From time to time we encounter listings that don't have a tangible item or service for sale, which is why we have this policy.

She pointed me to eBay's policy overview for further detail and there it was, clearly spelled out: "[L]istings that offer someone's 'soul' or a container that claims to have someone's 'soul' are not allowed."

No containers that hold souls, eh? Well, at least the rule probably won't apply to my precious Orb of Thesulah. As "Buffy" fans will recall, that's used for restoring souls (like Angel's), not for holding them.?

Do I hear $50?
