Amazon is hoping to sell a few more of its popular Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets with a price drop as well as additional availability in Japan and Europe.
The new starting price is $269 for the 16GB, Wi-Fi only version ? $30 cheaper than it was before. The 32GB version with 4G LTE connectivity starts at $399 now, a full $100 cheaper than previously. Both these prices include the "Special Offers" on-device advertising; you can expect to pay an extra $15 to disable it.
The Kindle Fire HD's 8.9-inch screen exceeds the definition of high definition (1,920x1,080) at a resolution of 1,920x1,200. It comes with a bevy of built-in Amazon-themed apps and a custom version of Google's Android operating system. You can read our review here, or watch the video below.
